Off to see Matrix Reloaded in a wee while, not looking forward to it in the slightest. Rebecca loves Sci Fi and fantasy, it does my head in. I would much prefer to watch a documentary on National Geographic. Rebecca claims it is a lack of imagination. I have heard all about all the hidden references and philosophy in the first Matrix, but am a tad sceptical that perhaps hidden meanings are not actually there. There is a huge gap in my fantasy film knowledge, which also extends to gaming. My Dad has a Playstation 2 and laughs at my inablity to even play the most basic game.
Give me a fishing rod, bicycle or pair of walking boots any day, crikey I am going to be an old sod of a Dad if I ever have kids.

The first Matrix film sucked. And I can't see the second being much better, expecially when to prepare for the role Ted 'Theodore' Logan hsat in a bath of ice cubes and read philosophy.
Let us examine the first film: The so-called high-brow p[hilosophy was twee, unchallenged (and unchallengable) and garbage. It did not sit well with the rest of the film. It didn't know whether to be an art-house flick, or a no-brainer sci-fi blaster, and in the end, fell short of both.
(Of course, the lobby screne (and the subsequent 10 minutes or so) is a great work out for anyone's ac3 sound system.)
It was pretentious beyond belief, and philospohy-lite for the fag-end of the slacker generation. It was neither spectacle nor worthwhile, neither involving nor exciting. And it has a lot to answer for, with every action flick after it deeming to use its slow-mo action style.
The very epitome of (Hollywood no) style over substance. Not that I think if you took out the style there would be any substance.
It appealed to the fanboy, to make them think that they could claim this to be art, to justify them sitting lonely in there bedrooms dreaming of alternative paranoid realities. The worst kind of geek pandering.
And Ms. Moss was just another adolsecent male fantasy figure. Black leather and demure, yet tough and feisty. But always subservient.
Gah. Can you tell I didn't like it?

But, but the significant numbers? Neo as Christ? Nihilism? The White Rabbit? The Red Queen? The Blue room?
Actually I loved the film. If you throw away all the (throw away) pop psycology and religous tom-foolery it's just a great action film. "I know Kung-Fu." Oh yes I do. Bag-beating all round. Heiiii-YA!

I know Kung-fu! Show me.
What a great a line. I don't by into this psycology crap. It is a great action film and lets end it at that. And the women in tight black leather is a plus..
Oh yeah, the second film rocks.
I know Kunf-gu!
