Linux Install

linux.gifWay back long long time ago I made a declaration to install Linux on a PC at home. Last night I started with Mandrake 9.2.
It's an ironic use of the penguin BTW, I could never seriously put that on my blog, especially for the amount of effort I put into the install, which incidentally isn't complete but I don't see there being much of a problem doing so.
I was hoping to get my hands dirty and learn something, but the install consisted of me lying on my backside watching a nice series of slick looking graphical installation screens. It recognised everything I needed it to, it recognised the presence of windows and asked me if I wanted to dual boot, I initially did that, but then thought why bother.
So I started again but then it wanted to reformat my hard drive, so I made a cup of tea watched some telly came back and it was still trying to do it, so I got bored and went to bed.
So I'll get it up and running at the weekend, play with it for a bit then I'm going to install Debian for a bit of craic, I just can't resist breaking things.
Oh if none of you have upgraded your blogs to version 2.63+ do it, the automated thumbnail generation part of the upload file is great.
We are hoping to use it in work as a way of storing some stock photography, I just thought I'd post that here to remind someone about that central install of Moveabletype...'whistles innocently and leaves!!'
