Insurance

A lesson in insurance, I wanted to change my car. I was previously paying 424 a year for my car. I called my insurance company and they quoted me between 850-1000 for my new model, I didn't have the new car at this point, hence the wooly quote.
So recently at a wedding I met the manageress of a rival company, she told me to call and she would beat that, this I did and was quoted £627.
I jumped at it and paid the deposit. Today I phone my previous provider to get the remainder of my policy changed to the new car. They ask am I renewing with them next week when it runs out. I say no that I have agreed with the other provider, they proceed to offer better and better rates for me if I cancel the other policy. I refuse because the girl did me a favour, by the end of the conversation, I was quoted £530 with a 5% charge for paying ,monthly by direct debit compared to £627 plus 10%. I turned this down because of loyalty to the person I met, but I'll know what to do next year. I always phone at least 5 or 6 companies to get a deal but have never seen a price drop so quickly when they know you are leaving.
